It was the cover that pulled me in, and then the title... I had to read it!!!

I was just hoping I liked the book. I've started so many books lately just to put them down and stop reading because they didn't keep my interest. Maybe it's my ADHD, or maybe I've become a more picky reader, but that's my life. Either way, I've been starved for a good book, and Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake did it for me!

The main character, Cas Lockwood, is a ghost hunter. No. Not the type you see on TV, he's literally a ghost hunter who kills ghosts with a knife infused with the power of his ancestors who were also ghost hunters.

Now, don't worry, he wouldn't off Casper the Friendly Ghost or anything like that. He only targets the bad ones, ones that kill humans. Anna is just that kind of ghost. In fact, the first time Cas sees her, she kills a high school bully by ripping him in half. (Yeah, there's some gore in this book, but it's not over-the-top). But then she leaves Cas alone. In fact, after her freaky crazy eyes, crazy hair killing spree, she changes. She looks and speaks unlike any ghost Cas has ever met or seen, she's too human. She looks sincerely regretful about killing the other boy and immensely relieved she doesn't have to kill Cas... but then Cas is like, Wait, what? She has to kill; she doesn't want to?

Then, Cas is determined to find out the mystery behind Anna and why she is haunting and killing in the abandoned house.

This book is very entertaining, and it even has a bit of ghostly romance, but that too is not over-the-top. I loved the spookiness, the strange quirkiness, and the character building in Cas, Anna, and the friends Cas makes at school.

The only thing that confused me a bit, is the fact that the book ended 75% of the way through it, and then started up ten years later with Cas and a different adventure. That adventure was good too, but it felt... not bad, but strange. Hey, I guess it fits!

Either way, this book is definitely worth a read, especially for those who love stories like Netflix' Wednesday or Stranger Things. In fact, this book would make an awesome new Television series!

My Rating: I would give this book a solid four and a half stars! Definitely worth the read!!!

Recommendations: I would recommend this book to readers aged fifteen or sixteen and up. There is no sex, but there is some mild kissing. There are some Bible swears, and bloody violence perpetrated by Anna—though the bully kind of brought it on himself.
